Lafert Group has set up a sales office in Singapore, run by a team of well established local management and engineers.

With the increasing trend of moving manufacturing operations to South East Asia and China, the Lafert Group has identified significant potential for its custom-engineered motor expertise within the expanding OEM sector in the area.

Accordingly, the company has set up a sales office in Singapore, run by a team of well established local management and engineers, to service this market.

"Singapore was chosen for our regional sales office", says Luca Trevisiol, International Sales and Marketing Director for the Lafert Group, "because it is the location of regional HQs for many existing and potential customers and is the natural communications and logistics centre for the region".

Trevisiol also said the new office was part of the Lafert Group's determined drive to maximise opportunities in South East Asia and China.

Lafert already has an established customer base in the region, much of which comprises companies that have transferred manufacturing to the area and want to retain continuity of supply, whereas others are drawing on the company's expertise of providing nonstandard motors to meet specific needs.

Products offered include AEG Electric Motors' ATEX certified and brake motor ranges.

Sales targets for Singapore 2005 are 8% market share (US $900,000) and for South East Asia US $12 million by 2006.

Principals in the new sales office are Ronnie Tan and Ben Tan.

Both worked previously for Western Electric in Singapore.
