Lafert North America, part of the AEG Lafert Group, is the largest supplier of IEC metric frame AC induction motors in North America According to a recently published study by IMS Research, the North American market is worth around $75 million

Using these figures, Lafert NA claims to have a 20% market share, whereas its nearest competitor has just half of that figure.

"The major part of our business is in the replacement market", says Sean Hickey, Managing Director of Lafert NA.

"This is due principally to the extensive range of solutions that we can offer our customers helping them to avoid the problems associated in getting European metric motors repaired".

"For each motor type, we can offer from seven to ten flange options plus four different voltages for every speed range".

In addition to the options offered, Lafert NA's success also stems from the companys in-depth stocking: every motor in the AEG Lafert standard catalogue is held in stock single phase, three phase and brake motors, including high-efficiency machines that exceed Epact/NRCan requirements and cURus compliant designs.

Valued at $2.4 million, this stock is held in six strategically placed warehouses across North America.

Lafert NA, based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada has been supplying IEC metric motors to Canada, the USA and Mexico since 1989.

In July 1998, Lafert NA has also received the sole North American distribution rights for the complementary SITI line of metric gear reducers.
