The ability to supply motors with custom engineered shafts and wide voltage bandwidth has enabled AEG Electric Motors to satisfy the requirements of Haigh Engineering of Ross-on-Wye for its HVL Filtramatic macerators, which are used around the world with extensive use in both marine and offshore markets.

The motor shaft has four step-downs and is precision ground.

This is to accommodate secondary bearings employed to minimise shaft run-out and a vacuum/pressure water seal prior to the location of the cutter ring.

With customers around the world and a strong emphasis on maritime related applications, AEG's motors' wide bandwidth (50Hz 190-220/380-400V and 60Hz 190-240/380-440V) facilitates meeting many different international power requirements, and is ideal for Haigh Engineering with its many international markets.

Because of the importance of the maritime market for the macerators, the motors are built to Lloyds' specifications.

Marine applications for the macerator are typically black water related where it is employed for reducing material before passing through to biological sewage treatment plant.

Typical installations are on passenger vessels/ferries, offshore oil/gas rigs and platforms/FPSOs The motor supplied to Haigh Engineering by AEG is the company's three-phase AM112MAA4 2.2kW machine.

It is a totally enclosed unit with metal fan and cover, sealed to IP55, aluminium terminal box, and finished with K2 anticorrosion paint.
