The One Series two-wire electronic pressure switch has been selected as the winner of the test, measurement and control category of the "Design News Best New Products of the Year" 2002 contest.

The Able Instruments and Controls One Series two-wire electronic pressure switch has been selected as the winner of the test, measurement and control category of the "Design News Best New Products of the Year" 2002 contest.

The decision was reached by an independent panel of judges who were forwarded the finalists by Design News Technical Editors, who first narrowed down the entries.

Design News Editors and independent judges describe the One Series two-wire as the electronic pressure switch that operates as both a switch and a gauge.

Connecting to the discrete digital input of a PLC or DCS, it features a process display, diagnostic information and a switch output on a single twisted pair of wires.

Requiring low power taken from residual PLC input current, the switch eliminates the need for rewiring the infrastructure in order to upgrade instrumentation.

Instruments that were formerly connected to the PLC using two wires can now be upgraded and replaced using the same two wires.

The test, measurement and control judge predicts: "The One Series two-wire will replace mechanical switches and analogue transmitters in a gauge pressure application.

It will be a direct drop-in replacement utilising existing wiring and discrete input channels".
