Compact goniometers are big on accuracy

Aerotech's latest goniometer stages provide significantly larger optical alignment envelopes than previously achievable.

Aerotech's latest goniometer stages, for the optics, photonics and medical device industries as well as research and development laboratories, provide significantly larger optical alignment envelopes than previously achievable The two new stages, the ANT-20G-110 and ANT-20G-160, handle transverse axis radii of 110 and 160mm, respectively

They offer exceptional resolution, accuracy and repeatability in combination with high speed - even with loads up to 3.5kg.

The unique design of the ANT goniometers uses Aerotech's world-class direct-drive noncontact motor technology.

When used with Aerotech's MXH encoder multiplier, the ANT-20G series provides an industry-leading positioning speed of 150 degrees per second over 20 degrees of travel.

High-precision, preloaded, crossroller angular contact bearings and linear encoder feedback are coupled with noncontact direct-drive technology that exhibits zero cogging.

These features assure the highest level of performance and deliver the excellent repeatability and in-position stability of the stages.

Indeed, accuracy is +/-10 arc seconds, while repeatability is an outstanding +/-0.5 arc seconds.

Unlike systems that use worm drives, there is no backlash.

The stages are remarkably compact, with the ANT20G-110 measuring just 105 x 107 x 45mm and the ANT20G-160 measuring 105 x 143 x 49mm.

For multiple axis applications the goniometers can be stacked to provide pitch and roll motion about the same point in space.

ANT series goniometer stages are all supplied optimised for the end user's application and are plug and play to ensure quick and simple installation.

The critical elements of the goniometers, as with all of Aerotech's other ANT series nanopositioners, are designed to operate in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Cost of ownership is minimal and, unlike conventional worm- or piezo-driven goniometers, the noncontacting nature of the ANT-20G's drive mechanics means the stages do not require periodic adjustment or maintenance.

This guarantees years of trouble-free operation. Request a free brochure from Aerotech ...
