Super-intelligent drives form scaleable
systems

Ensemble HP, MP and CP comprise a multitasking single-axis digital servo drive and motion controller family equipped with fully deterministic real-time Ethernet.

Ready for launch at the 2007 Machine Building Show, Aerotech's new Ensemble HP, MP and CP comprise a multitasking single-axis digital servo drive and motion controller family equipped with fully deterministic real-time Ethernet Each Ensemble may be networked and addressed for tightly synchronised motion and machine control to maintain microsecond level interpolation between axes and I/O

The new super-intelligent drives will form the basis for a new generation of fully scaleable motion systems for applications ranging from packaging and converting machines to semiconductor and medical equipment.

Unlike other real-time Ethernet based motion control systems, the new Ensemble is a completely stand-alone system requiring no separate hub to manage axis determinism and I/O synchronisation - this will reduce overall costs and improve reliability.

The Ensemble is available with an integral power supply for direct-online operation with continuous current ratings up to 30A with higher power versions planned for the very near future with up to 150A.

Real-time Ethernet capability is also to be made available on the multi-axis Epaq family of motion controllers.

Also planned for launch at the show is a new version of the Soloist stand-alone single axis intelligent drive with a linear amplifier stage.

The new Soloist CL is aimed at extremely high precision positioning and for ultra-sensitive test and measurement applications where extremely low-noise, high bandwidth and zero crossover distortion are prime requisites.

This unique product is based on Aerotech's NDrive HL series linear amplifiers which are the preferred choice to PWM based servo drives in such applications.

Aerotech will also be exhibiting its engineered Systems capability showing how a complete solution approach extends beyond linear and rotary positioning mechanics with motion and machine controls to include materials handling components such as grippers and chucks with fabricated machine base and framing components.

Aerotech provide a fully value-add service with complete engineered systems fully tested, tuned and delivered - ready for the customer to fit its specialist components and begin application programming.

Engineered motion systems provide a very competitive cost of ownership for the machine builder or OEM, reducing design and manufacturing timescales and allowing the customer to focus and develop the end-product with the certainty of performance and costs for the motion system.
