Twelve-jaw gripper for picking and placing O-Rings

An AGI - American Grippers product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 10, 2001

The AGI O-Ring Gripper is a twelve-jaw gripper with two independent pistons, six spreading jaws being double acting and six ejector jaws being single acting

AGI - American Grippers Inc's O-Ring gripper is made for picking and placing O-Rings on parts.

The twelve-jaw gripper has two independent pistons, the six spreading jaws are double acting and the six ejector jaws are single acting.

When air pressure is applied to the first piston, six parallel jaws spread the o-ring.

The O-ring is stretched evenly in a hexagonal shape; this allows the O-Ring to be expanded with considerably less deformation.

The stroke can be precisely adjusted using the setscrew.

After the o-ring is expanded and over your part, air pressure is applied to the second piston.

This causes the ejector jaws to push forward and press the O-Ring from the spreading jaws onto the part being assembled.

The O-Ring gripper can be tooled to accommodate all types of rings, the smallest would be the smallest you can make your tooling jaws to fit the inside diameter and the largest is approximately four inches depending on the cross section.

End of stroke sensing is available for both the spreading and ejecting jaws.

The size of the units is 2.5 inches diameter by 2.7 inches tall.

The new 2001 catalog features a complete range of products that include, parallel grippers, rotary actuators, thrusters, powered slides, mini slides, tool changers, overload devices, and specialty O-ring grippers.

AGI is making direct replacements for some of the most popular gripper companies.

Making several improvements over the competition, the AGI units have performance advantages in the same size envelope.

The latest technology is incorporated, from the materials to the design allowing AGI to exceed past the competition.

The AGI advantage is listed for each category in the new catalog.
