ED wire cutting system breaks
constraints
The Agiecut Vertex ED wire system halves the traditionally accepted constraints of ED wire cutting in the electronics, medical and micro-mechanical industries
Agie announced the new Agiecut Vertex at EMO 2001 This revolutionary ED wire system halves the traditionally accepted constraints of ED wire cutting and opens up new opportunities in the manufacture of parts for the electronics, medical and micro-mechanical industries

The Agiecut Vertex rests on 3 shock-absorbing support points and the main X and Y axes are arranged separately on the patented monoblock.
In order to reduce transmission forces and possible geometry deviations, all the axes are located in the immediate vicinity of the EDM area.
All axes are regulated and checked exactly to 0.1mm with dual measuring systems.

Investment cuts Sprint lead times in half
Telford-based Sprint recognised that to continue to grow and compete with lower cost global competitors it needed to invest in some of the highest performance machinery available to cut lead times.
Thanks to the ingenious arrangement of all heat sources away from the EDM area, the thermal behaviour of the Agiecut Vertex can be optimally controlled and each source is equalised by air or water cooling or insulation.
The working area is constantly submerged and the water level is adjusted automatically to the workpiece height by the rising and falling of the filled work tank.
Optimum water circulation ensures a stable water temperature with water being fed into the bottom of the work tank and exiting at the top as overflow.
The new Agieduo wire unit works with two spools of wire for different wire types.
The complete operational sequence for the wires runs fully automatically and is monitored by newly developed, patented sensors; wires of from 0.2 to 0.02mm diameter can be used.
The wire diameter plus 50mm determines the required size of the start-holes in the work piece.
The Agiecut Vertex continues Agie's tradition of creating machines of striking design.
The machine tool, controller, generator, wire unit and dielectric unit are completely integrated in the encapsulated ED wire-cutting system, resulting in a floor space requirement of just 1.4 x 1.9 m.
The new operator console, together with easy machine accessibility from three sides, ensures optimum operator convenience.
With Agievision 3, the well-proven concept of an open-system control for both wire cutting and die sinking is continued and, like all Agie EDM systems, the Agiecut Vertex has open interfaces for integrated production and operating sequences.
The new machine has been developed by Agie as the result of listening to the requirements of customers from all over the world, using state-of-the-art technologies and methods to create an optimal solution to today's advanced manufacturing needs.
