MACH orders back manufcturing optimism
EDM specialist Agie recorded one of its most successful exhibitions ever at MACH 2002, netting orders worth more than GBP 600,000.
EDM specialist Agie recorded one of its most successful exhibitions ever at MACH 2002, netting orders worth more than GBP 600,000.
Agie received five orders for EDM machines and supporting systems during the show - the first indication of a highly successful MACH.
The orders were for a range of machines and included an Agietron Innovation 2 CNC solid sink, an Agiecut Challenge 3 wire, a Mondo Star 20 die sink machine and two ActSpark SP1s - Agie's entry-level EDM machine.
The Innovation order included Agie's System 3R Workmate robot automation system, while the Challenge included System 3Rs electrode tooling.
Agie, part of the Agie Charmilles Group, then capped this success by winning two commendations in the Machine Tool Industry Awards for its Innovation and Vertex machines.
The Vertex, which made its UK debut at MACH, was a focal point for many of the visitors to Agie's stand.
Launched this year, the Vertex redefines the accuracy and finish of wire cut EDM by a factor of 50%.
Agie Managing Director Glynn Fletcher said that, given some of the concerns expressed by UK engineering pre-MACH, the size of the orders received and the very positive attitude of visitors showed a considerably more upbeat mood in the industry.
"To achieve this level of sales and win two commendations represents a very successful show by any stretch of the imagination.
But, even more encouraging was the discernable shift in attitude of those at MACH, with most of the visitors to our stand clearly planning equipment investment in the very near future.
The clear message we were left with was that, despite recent difficulties, the industry is now willing and able to meet the global challenge and compete across all sectors.
This is combined with a realisation that to gain the competitive edge requires the necessary investment in high performance equipment and total system solutions such as those that Agie, backed by its sister companies in the Agie Charmilles Group, can provide".
