Additives improve food-grade lubricants

An Acheson Colloids product story

Additives for use in lubricants produced for the food processing machinery market are composed of concentrated dispersions of boron nitride in synthetic fluid carriers.

Acheson Colloids has introduced Acheson FGA, a series of high-performance food-grade lubricant additives for use in lubricants produced for the food processing machinery market.

Composed of concentrated dispersions of boron nitride in synthetic fluid carriers, FGA food grade lubricant additives carry NSF HX-1 approvals for incidental food contact.

The two introductory products in the series - FGA 1810 and FGA 1820 - provide lubrication performance that surpasses traditional food grade lubricants, withstanding temperature extremes from -40 to +540C and performing as a boundary lubricant at over 1370C.

The additives provide stable dispersions that are white or off-white in colour.

Their technology effectively suspends sub-micron particles in special food-grade synthetic fluids, increasing the penetrability, durability and application range of the base fluid.

This translates to improved extreme-pressure, load-carrying and anti-wear properties for use in chains, conveyors, gears, hydraulic fluids and other systems requiring lubrication.

They reduce lubricant intervals, improve chain and equipment life and increase energy efficiency.
