Advance-Galatrek has revealed its new GDC 50-33 DC rectifier, aimed specifically at vital 24/7 installations in critical telecoms, mobile and Internet applications.

The new PowerPak GDC 50-33 incorporates several features expressly designed to provide superior reliability and performance in these critical environments.

The PowerPak 50-33 offers sophisticated remote management capabilities that provide the ability to monitor and control various remote sites, whether manned or unmanned from a central control station.

Using the latest network application protocols, GDC 50-33 can be operated remotely, eliminating the need for costly and time-consuming visits to often-inaccessible locations.

This means that, for the first time, mobile and telecoms operators can monitor and operate their power protection equipment without the need to resort to the inconvenience of a site visit.

Additionally, the GDC 50-33 features a compact design that allows up to six rectifiers to be mounted in a parallel or n+1 configuration on a single 19-inch rack shelf.

Up to seven rectifiers can be sited on a 23-inch shelf.

This gives operators a valuable advantage in situations where space is at a premium, and convenience is paramount.

This high power density combines with the ability to hot-swap, using plug-in units to give users a highly flexible and yet simple and economic solution to their power quality management needs.

With a rectifier amperage of 33A, the GDC 50-33 provides an output of 48Vdc, a figure that translates to a maximum system amperage of 198A, using the Advance-Galatrek 19-inch rack mounted shelf system.

However, because of the GDC 50-33's design configuration, the unit is equally capable of operating as a stand-alone power supply, with a single-phase input.

When used in conjunction with other GDC 50-33 units, the system utilises active current sharing capabilities, controlled by a microprocessor.

This provides a more even distribution of load between each module.

The GDC 50-33 DC rectifier features a front panel displaying detailed power information, and utilises float temperature curves for optimum battery charging.

The unit incorporates natural cooling, although the optional 42 Amp module (GDC 50-42) offers forced cooling, for more accurate temperature control at higher load levels.

This guarantees that each module is optimally cooled, for the greatest reliability and minimum maintenance and running costs.

Because even the slightest variations in voltage and current can be disastrous for vital installations, the PowerPak GDC 50-33 can use either the local mains supply or connected battery packs.

In order to minimise battery usage, and hence battery load, the system uses microprocessor based rectifiers with a wide input voltage window.

These combine with an advanced battery charging system, further enhancing battery performance and helping to ensure lower running and service costs.
