Advance-Galatrek has just launched its new GDC 50-6 PowerPak DC rectifier This modular 19-inch rackmount DC supply is designed specifically to be used in conjunction with the Advance-Galatrek GDC 1006 system controller and shelf

The GDC 50-6 rectifier provides a highly flexible solution for any application requiring the utmost in reliability and performance, including Internet, mobile and telecoms networks.

The shelf in which the GDC 50-6 is housed is capable of holding up to six hot-swap plug-in rectifiers, either in a parallel or n+1 or n+2 configuration.

This form of system architecture helps guarantee the ultimate reliability in exacting applications that demand total 24/7 network performance.

With an output rated current of 6 Amps, six GDC 50-6 modules will provide a maximum system amperage of 36A.

When several rectifiers are used in such a configuration, active current sharing is deployed to provide optimal performance.

Each rectifier also incorporates an output diode to alert users should a short circuit occur.

This provides a further safety feature, and helps to minimise system downtime.

Each unit also features front panel fine voltage adjustment control, to facilitate more accurate power management.

As well as housing up to six GDC 50-6 rectifiers, the Advance-Galatrek GDC 1006 system controller and shelf can feature a 100A DC Low Voltage Disconnect (LVD) device to protect the battery from being overcharged.

This is supplemented by a digital display, to provide output voltage and current measurements.

Together with system measurement and general status indicators, the GDC 50-6 Rectifier control panel gives users a comprehensive readout of system utilisation.

Because surges, sags and brownouts can be disastrous in any of the vital installations for which the PowerPak GDC 50-6 is designed, the unit is capable of using either the local mains supply or connected battery packs.

In order to reduce battery usage, and thereby minimise battery load, the system uses microprocessor-based rectifiers with a wide input voltage window.

These are supplemented by an advanced battery charging system, which further enhances battery performance, and helps to maintain lower running and service costs.
