Glass-fibre tape provides robust seal

An Agis product story

A new glass-fibre tape combines exceptional moisture resistance with superior tensile strength, flexibility and high temperature resistance.

A new glass-fibre tape, combining exceptional moisture resistance with superior tensile strength, flexibility and high temperature resistance, is available from Agis Manufacturing Company.

Because Agis Premium glass-fibre tape is noncellular, moisture cannot penetrate the filaments.

Unlike other gasketting or insulating materials, therefore, the tape will not swell, stretch, shrink, deteriorate or change chemically after prolonged exposure to water.

The product meets US Coast Guard requirements for incombustible materials and will not burn or smoulder.

At 370C, Agis Premium glass-fibre tape retains 50% of its tensile strength; at 540C, it retains 25% of its tensile strength.

A plain, woven tape manufactured from texturised glass-fibre yarn, it contains no compound, cement or wire.

In the manufacturing process, a proprietary heat treatment technique is applied to the surface which renders the tape free from most of the surface grit usually associated with glass fibre.

A selvage edge is routinely applied.

Applications include coverings for tadpole gaskets, flange gasketting, oven door deals, pipe wrapping and insulation.

Agis Premium glass-fibre tape is available in thicknesses of 0.025, 0.06 and 0.125in, with widths ranging from 0.5 to 6in, and in 100ft lengths.

A heat-treated finish is standard; optional waterproof, rewet and/or flameproof finishes are also available.
