By analysing performance data of the old unit and comparing it to the energy footprint of the new system, Airchannel was able to demonstrate the energy reduction if the CompAir unit was selected.
Following the failure of its old compressed air system, the UK's largest privately-owned provider of fitted kitchen, bedroom and bathroom furniture, contacted Airchannel to supply the most reliable, energy efficient compressed air system available.
The Symphony Group's plant in Rotherham produces some 600 worktops cut to size each day, a total of around 150,000 per year.
The overall workload had taken its toll on the company's air compressors, which had functioned for 10 years, operating at least two shifts per day for five days per week during this period.
"Quite simply, it had worn out", explains David Bramhall, Engineering Manager of the Group.
Both CompAir and Atlas products were considered for the replacement of the failed unit and Symphony's engineers required a detailed appraisal and understanding of Airchannel's suggested system, a CompAir L75SR variable speed unit, before installation.
By analysing performance data of the old unit and comparing it to the energy footprint of the new system, Airchannel was able to positively demonstrate the energy reduction if the CompAir unit was selected.
The new L75SR has a three-phase SR drive that increases the output of air by 12% compared to the older model.
The compressor has an increased protection class of IP55, meaning higher reliability for the end user, even in polluted areas.
The unit has secured access.
The old system had to be run with external timers to ensure the compressor was running when production was required, whereas the CompAir Delcos 3100 has a timer stop/start facility inbuilt.
CompAir's Assure warranty, coupled with the Airchannel Service Support Agreement has given Symphony total budget control of their compressed air costs for years to come.
