Membrane system is made to deadline

An Axium Process product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 1, 2007

Volac International recently commissioned Axium Process to build an ultrafiltration membrane system for the production of cheese whey protein concentrate.

Volac International, Europe's market leader in specialist areas of animal nutrition, feeding supplements, health care and feed ingredients, recently commissioned stainless steel specialist, Axium Process, to build an ultrafiltration membrane system for the production of cheese whey protein concentrate.

The system, which was manufactured to customer specification in hygienic stainless steel and consisting of 64 spiral membranes, was built as an extension to an existing membrane filtration system as part of Volac's strategy to increase its WPC production capacity.

Meeting Volac's delivery schedule was critical as installation involved a 48 hour scheduled shut down of the existing plant during which time the new ultrafiltration system had to be installed, commissioned and tested.

Axium's membrane filtration capabilities range from the design and build of mobile membrane pilot plants through to fully automatic systems with more than 2000m2 of membrane area.
