Safety network controller is DeviceNet-ready

An Australian Exhibitions and Conferences product story

A new safety network controller (SNC) that expands safety control and promotes simpler total system control will be a feature of Omron's stand at The Safety Show, Sydney, Australia, from 26-28 October 2005.

According to Omron, its new SNC is the world's first safety controller with a built-in DeviceNet Safety interface.

The SNC also features modularly configured safety functions for programming safety circuits.

The controller meets SIL3 of IEC 61508, the standard for functional safety, and machine safety standard, Category 4 of EN 954-1.

The SNC's three main features include programmable safety control circuits, added flexibility for system expansion via networking and the ability to share wiring with machine control systems.

Omron says programmable safety circuits make modifications and additions to safety circuits easier when equipment design drives change.

The SNC reduces wiring normally associated with conventional large-scale complex systems.

In fact, Omron expects wiring requirements slashed by as much as 50 per cent, helping to minimise wiring errors during installation or maintenance work and lifting operability during system changes.

Omron says SNC can also allow safety control and machine control to be performed in parallel via common wiring.

To learn more, visit Omron at stand H44 at The Safety Show Sydney, which runs from 26-28 October 2005 at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park, Australia.
