The University of Durham is currently accepting registrations for a week-long short industrial course on "Operations strategy" from 17th to 21st January 2005.
The unit's hydraulic single motion erection vastly reduces the amount of strain put onto the winch rope.
Usually, on traditional designs the mast is erected in two movements - from the horizontal and then to the vertical, but the mast on the VT1 always stays in the vertical position.
The design of the mast also makes the VT1 more compact than traditional designs and easier to load and unload from delivery vehicles.
The lamps are within the footprint of the unit and so are easy to move around with less risk of damage.
The VT1 has as standard a 60 hour fully bunded fuel tank.
A-Plant's VT1 lighting towers are available to hire from the company's depots nationwide, from Inverness to Bodmin.
They have a low noise performance (65 dBA at 7 m) that is ideal for event lighting, site lighting in construction and roadwork as well as for car parks, industrial sites, airports, warehouses and pedestrian areas at public events.
In addition, the VT1 has Railtrack approval for use on the rail network and is believed to be the only 9 metre engine driven floodlight with this certification.
With its fast tow capability and quick electric start, the VT1 light tower is also ideal for use at the scenes of accidents, fires and other emergency situations.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) produces an extensive 'Lighting at Work' booklet which defines the light level (LUX) required for different job applications.
A-Plant has produced a two page summary of the booklet which gives clear guidelines as to the requirements of contractors when assessing an area for lighting.
A-Plant has also produced a lighting chart relative to the construction industry which clearly states the Lux Levels for different applications and makes it easy for contractors to calculate how many machines they will require to light the area involved to comply with HSE regulations.
Please contact A-Plant for a copy the A-Plant lighting chart and summary of HSE Regulations for Lighting at Work.
