Smallest sensor to feature sensitivity adjuster
The EX-20 series, manufactured by SUNX (Japan), is believed to be the world's smallest sensor to incorporate a sensitivity adjuster in the main sensor housing.
High-end colour vision in low-cost sensor
The DVT Legend Series of SmartImage Sensors consists of six new cameras, ranging from standard greyscale systems to models which offer full-colour inspections at 1280 x 1024 pixel resolution
The new DVT Legend 515 is a low-cost yet fully featured vision sensor.
The 515 features a higher speed microprocessor and an imaging chip capable of much greater detail than the model it replaces.
The heart of the Legend 515 is a Texas Instruments processor that provides a 50% increase in performance.
The 515 uses the new Micron CMOS chip that gives the system the capability of capturing up to 1800 parts per minute.
The new Legend 535 offers even greater performance, along with the ability to perform optical character recognition and read all common 1 and 2D barcodes.
The Sony imaging chip features advanced CCD technology which gives improved image quality by reducing noise and the effects of reflection from shiny parts.
The final new product, the Legend 545 is all about performance.
Based around a Texas Instruments microprocessor, it offers processing speeds up to four times greater than the Legend 515.
The increased power of the 545 allows the detailed inspection parts at higher speeds than were previously possible.
All three of the new cameras provide greater memory for storing inspection programs - in excess of 100 products can be stored in the 16Mbit of Flash memory available.
Additionally, all feature built-in Ethernet connectivity including auto-cable crossover for simplified connection to Ethernet networks and stand-alone computers.
The release of the new products also coincides with a new version of the award winning Intellect configuration software.
Intellect 1.3 includes improvements to inspection tools for faster processing, along with a connection wizard to aid troubleshooting.
Available free of charge, Intellect allows users to easily and quickly configure complex inspections in the fastest possible time.
The addition of the new products increases the Cognex DVT Legend range to 20 different models.
These include ultra-high-resolution, full-colour and line-scan models.
The variety of systems available means that Cognex has a system to suit most applications and most budgets.
