Load/force/pressure meter now comes with RS232

An Amalgamated Instrument product story

The Amalgamated Instrument Co HH4-WT hand held load/force/pressure meter now has RS232 communications as standard and can hold up to 3 sets of calibration data within its own memory

Amalgamated Instrument Co has announced some enhancements to its HH4-WT hand held load/force/pressure meter.

RS232 communications are now standard making the instrument even more powerful and effective in situations where field readings must be taken and recorded.

The meter can be interfaced to a laptop, for example, and live readings logged for future analysis.

This enhancement coupled with the ability of the instrument to recognise calibration information from many transducers makes the product a very powerful tool for a wide range of applications.

The HH4-WT can hold up to 3 sets of calibration data within its own memory.

When a sensor with calibration information stored in a special memory chip within the sensor's plug is connected, the stored calibration values automatically override any internally stored calibration data.

This allows the one hand held instrument to be used to take calibrated measurements from many sensors.

There are many applications that require periodic, but not constant, measurement and data logging of load or pressure.

Examples include the monitoring of the load on the hook of a crane when used with a tension load cell, the periodic recording of water levels in a dam or in a mobile weighbridge. The HH4-WT can be taken on site, the "in-situ" sensor can be plugged in and readings taken in the knowledge that the meter is calibrated to the sensor.

Live readings can be logged using the RS232 interface.

Calibration is easily set up using the pushbuttons on the instrument.

Other HH4-WT features include a programmable "USER" button and a selectable sample rate up to 100 samples per second.

The "USER" button can, for example, be programmed for peak hold, tare or to access the alternate internal calibrations.

The HH4-WT is powered by a single 9V battery.

An automatic "switch off" function is provided to switch the instrument off after a programmable preset time period thereby prolonging battery life.

The AIC HH4-WT, with its flexibility, range and intelligence, coupled with the wide range of sensors carried by AIC offers solutions to applications needing measurement and logging where fixed instrumentation is impractical.
