Warning when lifting equipment is near capacity

An Amalgamated Instrument product story

A range of rope clamp load cells is available which can be used in measuring the tension in equipment lifting ropes when used in conjunction with a suitable indicator and alarm system

It is vital that warnings are given when lifting equipment is approaching its capacity.

A useful way of alerting an operator to a possible problem is by measuring the tension in the equipment's lifting rope.

This can be done using load cells that clamp onto the rope.

Amalgamated Instrument Co now offers a range of rope clamp load cells that can be used in such a role when used in conjunction with a suitable indicator and alarm system.

The PA6170 range of rope clamp load cells offers 3 models with differing capacities: Capacity 0.4t to 1.5t for rope sizes 6 - 10mm; Capacity 2t to 4t for rope sizes 11 - 16mm; and Capacity 4t to 9t for rope sizes 17 - 22mm.

The cells have an output of 2mV/V and offer exceptional specifications in terms of linearity, repeatability and temperature stability.

The cells use a 4 wire strain bridge configuration.

When used with, say, AIC's panel mount PM4-WT load cell monitor/controller, the PA6170 range of cells offers a system to alert operators to overload situations and, if necessary, halt operations.
