Amalgamated Instrument Co has combined two of its products to provide a solution to a difficult problem.

There are many applications where a load cell or strain transducer is located a long distance from the monitoring point.

These applications have some inherent problems - transmission distance and the necessity to be "on-site" to carry out calibration.

Calibration, especially, is a burden as the cell must be calibrated and then a retransmission system must be calibrated to the load cell output.

This on-site requirement can be quite hazardous when dealing with large lifting equipment for example.

By combining the flexibility of a large digit display with the onboard processing power of the XT4-WT intelligent load cell interface, AIC has produced a system that allows calibration and monitoring of a strain gauge type transducer at distances up to 1200m.

Once the load cell/strain gauge and XT4-WT subsystem is installed it can be left.

All calibration and monitoring functions are carried out at the remote display.

The display is housed in an IP65 weatherproof enclosure that can be wall mounted.

A panel mounting kit is also available.

The display features 57mm high digits with a viewing distance of up to 25m.

Power and signal communication is supplied from the display so that, apart from installation, it is unnecessary to have access to the load cell/strain gauge transducer and XT4 subsystem.

The remote monitor is equipped with sepoint/alarm relays to further enhance the usability of the system.

The products are designed and manufactured in Australia and can be customised to meet particular application requirements.
