Control valve for efficient metering of turbines

An AMOT product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 17, 2006

Gas turbine fuel control valve has fast operating speed and 500:1 turn-down ratio that can let one unit deliver fuel precisely from light off to maximum power.

The AMOT 8402 gas turbine fuel control valve has been developed for efficient metering on virtually any industrial or aero-derivative turbine and can be combined with the Model 4420 fuel shutoff valve to provide complete system control.

Designed to provide accurate and reliable turbine control, the 8402 valve has a fast operating speed and 500:1 turn-down ratio that can allow a single unit to deliver fuel precisely from light off to maximum power.

Its electric stepper-motor actuator can fully stroke the valve in 250ms and eliminates the need for a hydraulic actuation system.

Accurate position measurement lets the valve keep the turbine operating at its maximum efficiency while maintaining the safety of the machine and the entire turbo-machinery train.

Its digital optical encoder provides repeatability of +/-0.05% of stroke, and carbon or stainless steel construction gives durability for long life.

The 4420 turbine fuel shutoff valve can be linked with the 8402 control valve to provide a combined system for any turbo-machinery application.

Compact and easy to install, its vent port eliminates the need for separate bleed valves, which saves costs and simplifies piping.

This shutoff valve can be used for gas turbines of 10 to 30MW size, starting air/gas valve bleed valves and vented fuel/gas valves.

It is a single acting pneumatically actuated spring-return valve available in two-way and two-way vented versions, which are suitable for gas turbine applications because they relieve and vent pressure on the down-stream side upon shutdown.

The control valve's actuator enclosure is certified for use in hazardous environments and the user-configurable controller's separate enclosure can be mounted up to 91.44m from the valve in a safe area.
