System provides early warning of bearing wear

An AMOT product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 31, 2007

The XTSW bearing condition monitoring system removes the need for open out inspections, which are both costly and a major cause of crank train bearing failures.

AMOT has released the XTS-W bearing condition monitoring system, which suits marine applications.

The system provides real- time monitoring of the crank train bearings in large two-stroke diesel engines, providing an early warning of bearing wear and avoiding dangerous and catastrophic bearing failures.

It also removes the need for open out inspections, which are both costly and a major cause of crank train bearing failures.
