Amot EB electric actuators enhance control valves

An AMOT product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 30, 2008

The Amot EB electric actuators for G series temperature control valves improve system robustness, safety and compatibility while simplifying installation and calibration.

These actuators have been redesigned for vibration resistance to Lloyds on-engine specification, with the terminal board fitted on anti-vibration mounts to reduce fatigue on electronic components and connections.

They have configurable voltage control inputs to facilitate use with 1-5V and similar control systems.

The position feedback potentiometer has been replaced with a contactless Hall Effect sensor to extend its working life.

An optional potentiometer is available for existing systems compatibility.

To simplify setup, customer wiring is now in a separate terminal box so the actuator lid does not have to be opened during installation.

A simple calibration button, DIP switch configuration for input and motor direction setting and a USB port for each configuration and software-update eliminates the need for a bulky configurator.

A positioner can be retrofitted to basic EB actuators.

The positioner power module has universal mains voltage inputs, removing the need to set a voltage selector switch when installing or replacing power modules.

The mA input and output have been opto-isolated to 3kV, which, with the provision of two opto-isolated alarm outputs, has improved safety and system compatibility.

Three LED status indicators give a clearer indication of operating condition than the previous single LED.

An easy upgrade path to fully functioning CAN-bus is provided by CAN-bus enabled hardware.

Real-time clock hardware with battery backup results in easy add data logging.
