Designed for the demanding communications environment, the 242 and 244 PCI four and eight port serial boards are available with or without isolation.

Designed for the demanding communications environment, the 242 and 244 PCI four and eight port serial boards are available with or without isolation The isolation version of the boards have all-round isolation, each port is isolated from each other and from the PC

This protects both PC and equipment attached to the serial port from damage due to different earth potentials especially when transmitting over long distances.

Available from Amplicon Liveline, these half-length boards can operate in all PCI compatible computers and have an especially flexible base address, allowing each port to be addressed independently.

Registers occupy eight continuous locations above each base address.

The high speed transceivers feature fail-safe circuitry, which guarantees a logic level when the receiver inputs are shorted or open, or when they are connected to a terminated transmission line.

The plug and play PCI242 and 244 boards are backwards compatible with the C104H and PC231 boards respectively, have single PCI interrupts for all ports and features full duplex/multidrop/broadcast, all software selectable.

There is an auto ring back for remote PC control.

Data rates of the boards are up to 1Mbaud and there is a 128 character FIFO on each port.

A choice of either 9 or 25 pin D connectors is available which ensures upward compatibility with other equipment.

ESD protected devices are provided on all serial and data control lines and slew rate limited transmitters enhances EMC and reduces reflections.

Both manuals and software are supplied on CD and Windows 95/98/NT drivers replace the Microsoft drivers.

Applications for the serial port boards includes Internet service provision, retail point of sale, security systems, factory floor and office automation, environmental control systems, satellite links, traffic control systems and remote message displays.
