Software facilitates electrical
protection studies

Protection studies for both HV and LV electrical installations can now be carried out faster, more easily and more accurately than ever before by using Protect 2001 software

Protection studies for both HV and LV electrical installations can now be carried out faster, more easily and more accurately than ever before by using Protect 2001, an entirely new release of the popular Protect software package which has just been launched by Amtech, the UK's leading supplier of specialist software for the electrical industry Like previous versions of Protect, the new package is available in both HV and LV editions, with the LV edition also being incorporated in the latest release of Amtech's market-leading CableMaster electrical installation design and verification package

With Protect 2001, users simply enter details of the power sources and transformers, using straightforward on-screen dialogues, then add information about circuit breakers and protection devices direct from the built-in library of manufacturers' data.

In Protect 2001, this data has been expanded to cover more devices in more detail.

Trip characteristics can be displayed and compared on-screen, greatly simplifying and speeding up the task of producing discrimination studies, and the new package also allows users to toggle between over-current and earth-fault analyses without the need to re-enter data.

Another powerful new feature is an interactive single-line diagram, which automatically checks Icu and Ics values, and highlights potential problems.

Also new to Protect 2001 is the facility to import data, such as earth-fault and short-circuit levels, direct from CableMaster, along with design data relating to loads, cables, transformers and other system elements.

Not only does this facility offer increased time savings, it also eliminates the risk of errors associated with manual data transfer.

To complement the powerful software facilities of Protect 2001, Amtech is including in the package product data sheets from major manufacturers, which can be inspected on-screen, and printed out as required, for use in project documentation.

Facilities are also provided for both the program itself, and the data associated with it, to be updated automatically via the Internet.

Amtech is the UK's leading developer of software products designed specifically for the electrical industry.

The company's products are developed in-house, and include programs for electrical design, protection calculations, test and inspection applications, and for interior lighting design.

Committed to innovation, product quality and customer service, Amtech holds BS EN ISO 9001 TickIT accreditation for customer support services and software development activities. Request a free brochure from Amtech Power Software ...
