The Institute of Automotive and Manufacturing Advanced Practice (AMAP) is to hold a seminar dedicated to digital manufacturing in partnership with Delmia.

The Institute of Automotive and Manufacturing Advanced Practice (AMAP) is to hold a seminar dedicated to digital manufacturing in partnership with Delmia on 29th November, from 0900 to 1200 GMT, at the Ramside Hall Hotel and Golf Club, Durham.

AMAP is an industrial "reach-out" department at the University of Sunderland that delivers regional, national and international projects.

One of these projects is the GBP 4 million NEPA/Digital Factory project, funded by the regional development agency, One NorthEast.

The Digital Factory project delivers training, assistance and technology transfer relating to digital engineering technologies to any manufacturing company in the North East, irrespective of sise.

This digital manufacturing event is expected to be heavily subscribed.

It is intended to demonstrate the business benefits of digital manufacturing and its applicability to a wide range of manufacturing organisations.

It forms part of a series of events designed to help companies in the North East not only better understand digital manufacturing technologies but to assist them in exploring their applicability through to product training and post training assistance.

Alan Stafford, AMAP Project Manager for the NEPA/Digital Factory project explained: "We are an entirely stakeholder driven, not-for-profit organisation, which puts us in a great position to assist regional companies in an impartial way".

"We would like to thank Delmia for the support it has offered in delivering this event and we hope delegates will go away not only with a better understanding of what is possible, but just how achievable it is".

Over recent months, AMAP has been working alongside Nissan and its Tier One suppliers, providing Delmia consultancy and training.

Richard Barras, Senior Engineer, Bodyshop, Nissan Manufacturing UK commented: "Our collaboration with AMAP has allowed us to expand our use of Delmia Digital Factory within our Body Engineering Group quickly".

"When modifying our process this powerful study tool allows us to find and fix problems earlier, saving cost, and time".

Simon Allsop, General Manager for Delmia in the UK, said: "AMAP is helping us to disseminate the efficiencies digital manufacturing can make and, consequently, the money that can be saved by the successful implementation of Delmia software".

"Nissan is already reaping the benefits of seamlessly linking its internal CAD software to a Delmia environment".

"We are delighted that AMAP will be able to guide companies in the North East of England on the benefits of digital manufacturing and we hope that this seminar will just be the start".
