Arc Energy Resources has invested in a new GBP 45,000 CNC press brake to meet the growing demand for its specialised fabrication services.

Managing Director Alan Robinson says substantial growth in fabrication work from existing customers meant the company needed to significantly increase its forming capacity.

He adds that the 150t press brake, which can form sheet lengths up to 3600mm, will also enable Arc Energy accommodate larger fabrications and handle a greater variety of work.

In 2004, new contracts and significant growth from existing customers helped Stonehouse (Gloucestershire) based Arc Energy to break the GBP 2 million turnover barrier.

The company's fabricating and cladding skills are in demand from customers as diverse as BAe Systems for weld overlay cladding of hull penetrator inserts for the Royal Navy's new Astute class submarine; and the fabrication of stormwater and wastewater systems for Hydro International.

The next stage of the company's development will be a move to substantially larger premises in 2006.
