Mach set to be spellbound by Wizard DRO

An ACI product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 8, 2006

Visitors to Mach 2006 (15th to 19th May at Birmingham's NEC) will see user-friendly DRO that can be supplied as either a two- or three-axis unit for milling, turning or grinding applications.

Visitors to Mach 2006 (15th to 19th May at Birmingham's NEC) will see how measurement and control firm ACI (UK) has expanded its one-size-fits-all digital readout system with the Anilam Wizard 550 DRO - a user-friendly DRO that can be supplied as either a two- or three-axis unit for milling, turning or grinding applications.

Combined with the ENC 125T and 125E precision glass linear encoders for accuracy and durability, the DRO is intuitive and all prompts, instructions and help functions are visible as text or graphics on the flat screen 14.5cm 320 by 240 resolution crystal clear LCD.

All standard routines are visible on the screen and graphics guide users through simple questions.

There are operation-specific soft keys.

For milling, the system is supplied as standard with bolt hole pattern calculations for full and partial circles with graphics, zero reset and preset features, tool diameter compensation and near zero warning.

Features include taper turning functionality and 16 tool offsets that, when used with the axis lock feature, ensure tool deflection is reduced even under load.

Grinding and general use applications are based around the system's zero reset, linear error compensation, instant radius-to-diameter and inch to mm conversions, as well as absolute and incremental display features.

RS232 port and workpiece probing functionality is provided as standard.

The DRO complements the just-announced Acu-Rite 200S DRO and the revamped low-end three-axis Acu-Rite 100S, also from ACI (UK).

All the DROs are of slimline design, with diecast aluminium casing and plastic front cover.

The ENC 125T (top) and ENC 125E (end) precision glass scales are durable, and are available with a resolution of 5um and an accuracy rating of 10um/m.

ENC scales are available in lengths up to 3.4m.
