Software environment is made for image processing

An Analogic Computers product story

The InstantVision integrated software environment is now available for use on the VisionBox, a stand alone image processing computer from Strampe Systemelektronik.

Analogic Computers has announced the availability of its InstantVision integrated software environment for use on the VisionBox, a stand alone image processing computer from Strampe Systemelektronik.

Users of the VisionBox, which like Analogic's own Bi-i ultra-fast intelligent camera, is based on the high-performance TMS320C64xx DSPs from Texas Instruments, now have access to all the advanced features and capabilities of Analogic's InstantVision ISE.

Currently the VisionBox is used nearly exclusively in the area of industrial quality control.

With the InstantVision family of software libraries the VisionBox is a cutting-edge tool for video security and surveillance as well.

As Analogic adds more easy-to-use security/surveillance video analytics functions to InstantVision, the VisionBox - including its new version, Compact II, which turns up to four analogue cameras into a single intelligent camera at a rate of 25 frame/s - is expected to find wide application among video surveillance system developers and integrators.

The software libraries developed by Analogic take full advantage of the 1GHz speed of the TI DSP.

The variety of functions in the InstantVision libraries - signal and image flow processing, feature (or object) classification, and multitarget tracking - makes application development for the VisionBox more effective with greatly reduced development effort and increased versatility of the VisionBox.

Dr Gusztav Bartfai, CEO of Analogic, says: "This move is in line with Analogic's strategy to provide components of its proprietary Cellular Visual Technology (CVT) for a wide range of customers, including OEMs and system integrators".

"InstantVision is a major component, and is rapidly gaining recognition among customers".

"Many of these CVT components are perfectly suited for applications in the security/surveillance video processing sector, a market which Analogic is targeting".

"To this end, we are actively seeking partners already established in the security/surveillance sector who require simpler, easier to use, faster and more accurate vision processing software".

Analogic's CTO and Vice President of Research, Dr Csaba Rekeczky adds: "It is our goal to continuously improve our cutting-edge technology and knowhow, with specific focus on providing solutions for a wide range of image processing problems, with an emphasis on video security/surveillance applications".

Strampe Systemelektronik and Analogic Computers both use the TI DSPs as the basis for their products.

However, the InstantVision family of software is platform independent so other hardware manufacturers can benefit from the simplicity, speed and capabilities of InstantVision.
