With its dedicated software for rotating electric machine design RMxprt, Ansoft Corporation announces a significant new addition to the Maxwell Designer Series.

Ansoft Corporation announces RMxprt, a significant new addition to the Maxwell Designer Series.

RMxprt is a specialised software tool for the design of rotating electric machines.

Designers within many industries including automotive, consumer electronics, industrial automation, and home appliance can use RMxprt to quickly design all types of motors and generators.

The Maxwell Designer Series is a suite of software tools that provide application specific design solutions targeting motors, generators, and high frequency power electronics components such as transformers and inductors.

According to Adrian Perregaux, Director of Marketing, EM Products, "RMxprt is particularly valuable in the concept stage of the design process for electric machines.

RMxprt allows the designer to quickly evaluate potential motor configurations and identify the most promising alternative prior to performing more detailed analysis.

Using classical motor theory and equivalent circuits, RMxprt instantly produces performance predictions allowing design alternatives to be efficiently evaluated prior to using Ansoft's finite element tools to perform detailed analysis and refine the design.

An intuitive user interface allows quick entry of motor specific data in an easy to understand template.

These parameters include: operating source, rotor, stator, lamination geometry, winding configuration, materials, mechanical load type, 3D effects, and commutation parameters.

RMxprt automatically generates a two-dimensional geometric model and calculates motor performance in seconds.

Detailed performance plots and parameters are output for steady-state, no-load magnetic, full-load, locked rotor, break-down, rated operation, and winding arrangement.

RMxprt handles a wide variety of electric machines including: Single Phase and Three Phase Induction Motors * Three Phase Synchronous Generator * Switched Reluctance Motor * Adjustable-speed Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor * Permanent Magnet Synchronous, DC, and DC Brushless Motors.
