Acquisition brings mechanical struts to range

An Associated Spring product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 27, 2006

Mechanical struts are suitable for a wide range of industry sectors including medical, nuclear, pharmaceutical, chemical, military, marine, agricultural and construction.

Following the acquisition of the SPD Division's range of gas springs and components, Associated Springs claims to offer one of the largest stock holdings of gas and mechanical springs in the UK.

As a member of the international Barnes Group, Associated Spring is a major force in its own right with worldwide sales of standard and special springs exceeding $1 billion.

In the UK, Associated Spring Spec is backed by the resources of the parent company enabling it to offer local development, production engineers and range of precision springs and components from stock.

It is also a producer of gas springs and mechanical springs.

SPD spent over a decade building sources to deliver hardware with quality and competitive prices.

Added products following the acquisition include a range of mechanical struts for a long life while maintaining consistent repeatable loads.

These struts have been designed for applications where the use of conventional gas struts is inappropriate - making them suitable for a wide range of industry sectors including medical, nuclear, pharmaceutical, chemical, military, marine, agricultural and construction.

Custom designed products are also available.

The company works closely with design engineers on major experimental and prototype projects which frequently translate into high volume production of special springs and accessories.
