The latest programmable logic controller from Alstom's Gem 80 series - the Gem80-500 PLC - has proved a cost effective way to upgrade automation systems for Pirelli Tyres.
Packaged drives provide flexible solution
The Alspa-Pac range has been developed to meet the growing demand for a readily available, flexible and low-cost drive.
Aimed at all users of the GEM80 PLC, and specifically those in the process and control industry, the AGP offers greater monitoring capabilities and more secure access to GEM80 programs, via the use of passwords.
The AGP was developed jointly by the original GEM80 team at Alstom and software company Advanced Technical Software.
Mark Woods, Commercial Manager for the new product, said: "The AGP is an easy-to-use and powerful programming tool.
It's a Windows-based 32bit package that provides extensive facilities for developing, documenting, testing and monitoring applications.
It has the ability to import programs from older programming packages, which ensures that the user saves times and also reduces training costs.
It also has comprehensive editing facilities, enhanced graphics and administrator passwords".
The AGP is available in either a standard or professional version, with the latter offering TCP/IP remote programming, CSV import and export of mnemonics/data comments, enhanced keyboard interface in Rung editor and Rung overview display mode.
Both versions are available with either parallel or USB dongles.
