Recently this summer, a team of seven people from the Rugby based Power Conversion sector of Alstom took part in the BG Energy Mystery Challenge.
The aim of the event was to raise money for Children's Aid Direct, an international aid agency.
Alstom raised a total of just under £8,000 - surpassing the initial £5,000 target.
The BG Energy Mystery Challenge was to climb three mystery mountains in just 24 hours.
Alstom's team took just over 21 hours to climb Beinn Dorain (Scotland), Great Gable (Lake District) and Carnedd Moel Siabol (North Wales) on what was one of hottest weekends of the year.
In addition to the climb, Alstom also arranged a number of less physically demanding activities to further boost the funds, including a BBQ, book sale, sponsored slim and foreign coin collection.
"The whole event has been very enjoyable.
As well as gaining satisfaction from knowing that the proceeds were going to a worthy cause, the activities have helped to further build team spirit among employees," commented Elaine West, Communications Manager at Alstom.
Sponsors of the Alstom team included Abstract Design of Kenilworth, XP plc, Right Management Consultants, Whistler Productions, Danfoss, Leo Associates, Europa Electrical, Arrowvale Electronics and EFI Logistics.
In total the BG Challenge raised ?160,000 with 23 teams taking part.
Fully sponsored by the BG Foundation, the BG Energy Challenge allows funds raised by team members to go straight to the charity.
Children's Aid Direct works within the Institute of Fund Raising Managers (IFRM) strict Code of Conduct when operating its mountain challenges.
The Code ensures that 2% of all money raised is donated toward the general footpath upkeep via the landowners.
Children's Aid Direct works in behalf of children and their carers in Albania, FY Republic of Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Kosovo, Haiti, Burundi, Liberia, Sierra Leone, The Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Tajikistan.
