Australia-based Clough Offshore has awarded the Power Conversion sector of Alstom a contract for the supply and commissioning of an ADP21 duplex Dynamic Positioning System

This month sees another order for Alstom's popular A Series, its latest range of integrated control systems Australia-based Clough Offshore has awarded the Power Conversion sector of Alstom a contract for the supply and commissioning of an ADP21 duplex Dynamic Positioning System (DP)

The system will be installed on the general-purpose construction barge, 'Java Constructor,' upgrading it to be one of the few dynamically positioned vessels operating in the Asia Pacific region.

The DP capability of the vessel will be a total of 7MW of installed power.

The enhancements mean that 'Java Constructor' will be classed as a self-propelled vessel with a 10-knot transit speed and will also have a new motion suppression system installed.

Once the upgrade is completed, 'Java Constructor' will be working in South-East Asian and Australasian waters where its primary operation will be rigid pipeline installation in S-lay mode on DP.

The vessel will also be suitable for all construction support activities including platform installation, diving operations and pipelay, J-lay and flexibles.

The modular design of the new A Series systems and Alstom's effective project management skills ensure customers receive the most suitable system which also accommodates long-term requirements.
