Ampacet Corporation has completed a new 3700m2 plastic colour masterbatch facility in Queretaro, Mexico.

Ampacet Corporation has completed a new 3700m2 plastic colour masterbatch facility in Queretaro, Mexico, about 120 miles northwest of Mexico City.

The new plant contains multiple twin-screw extruder lines, a colour service and development centre and offices.

"We created this custom colour operation to strengthen our specialty colour capabilities within the Americas", says Doug Brownfield, Strategic Business Manager.

"It also will allow us to better serve the needs of Mexico's rigid and flexible packaging companies".

"Both the plant and its colour lab are structured for quick turnaround, so we can support the packaging market's speed-to-market needs".

The plant's production lines are highly efficient and include a blending station to ensure product quality and laboratory-scale extrusion and moulding equipment for product evaluations.

In addition, its colour service and development centre gives customers the ability to create new colours and effects rapidly.

"The plant will support our broad base of business in Mexico, which we had serviced from the USA and South America until now", says Guillermo Quijano, Business Manager, Ampacet de Mexico.

"We placed the facility in Queretaro because this locale is a centre for plastics manufacturing in Mexico and many of our customers are within easy reach of the site".

"In addition to giving our current customers better service, it will enable us to greatly expand our presence in the fast-growing Mexican plastics industry".

"Our growth in Mexico is part of a broader global strategy for servicing customers who set global colour standards but need local service".
