API Portescap has recently released the type 16N ironless rotor DC motor with both the B16 reduction gearbox and the F16 magnetic encoder integrated.

This represents the most compact high performance unit on the market today.

The motor can deliver a peak torque of 8 mNm and a continuous output power of 1.7 W.

The modular spur gearbox offers an optional planetary output stage with a continuous torque rating of 150 mNm, yet ensuring excellent life figures.

Sleeve or ball bearings are available for supporting the output shaft.

The recommended maximum motor input speed is as high as 8'000 rpm.

The 13 reduction ratios cover a range from 5:1 to 2187:1.

The magnetic encoder offers either 15 or 16 lines and two output signals in quadrature, giving a total of 64 signals per revolution or a resolution of 5.63 degrees at the motor shaft.

It operates on voltages from 3.5V to 15V and requires only 6 mA.

Here is a smart and reliable solution for speed and position control in such applications as Medical equipment, Instruments and, security devices.
