API Motion recently launched the "Centennial Controller series" The Centennial series controllers feature a 1.5 axis motion controller with integral servo drive, power supply as well as a 100 micro sec position loop update period

Advanced features such as high-speed gearing, registration, camming and programmable I/O, are also available as standard.

The Centennial series controllers feature high-speed, floating point digital signal processors (DSP's).

These DSP's are better for processing real-time numeric data than conventional RISC or CISC microprocessors.

In fact, the DSP used in the Centennial drive is capable of 40- million floating-point operations per second.

This gives the Centennial the power to solve even the most complex motion control applications.

A unique feature within this drive is the completely programmable auxiliary PID controller.

This controller is ideal for controlling and maintaining tension or pressure, without the need for a separate controller outside the drive.

Because of the unique implementation of the PID controller, the source for the reference (set point) and tension (feedback) signals can originate from anywhere.

The PID controller gains and even the reference and feedback sources can be changed "on-the-fly without stopping.

The PID controller runs in tandem with all the other control loops (position, velocity, current, spline and CAM) within this drive and executes at a rate of 10,000 times per second.
