Stainless-steel pressure sensors have wide ranges

An Applied Measurements product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 13, 2008

Devices measure liquid and gas pressures in a wide variety of applications, ranging from hydraulics and pneumatics to barometers and data loggers.

A new range of stainless-steel sensors is available to measure the pressure of liquids and gases in a diverse range of applications, to a high accuracy (0.05%) and across a wide pressure range (from 0-10mbar up to 700bar).

The Pi600 Series of pressure sensors from Applied Measurements has been engineered for the measurement of liquid and gas pressures in a wide variety of industry sectors, including hydraulics, pneumatics, agriculture, marine, sewerage, gas, medical, chemical, food processing, barometers and data loggers.

The sensors are also used by the automotive sector, including various Formula and rally cars.

The sensors, which are sealed to IP65 (plug and socket) or IP66/68 (cable), are constructed from stainless steel and have a ceramic diaphragm, offering compatibility with a wide range of pressure media.

Absolute and gauge versions are available and there's a wide choice of electrical output signals to meet the customer's operational requirements.

Three accuracy levels are available down to 0.05% across an unusually wide pressure range, which starts from as low as 0-10mbar up to 0-700bar.

The Pi600 Series also offers excellent chemical and abrasion resistance.

Operating temperature range is from -20 to +135C, with temperature compensation down to 0.01%/degC if required.

As Peter Lewis, Managing Director at Applied Measurements states: "The Pi600 Series enables customers to select and pay for the level of accuracy and thermal stability that they require for the application".

"The accuracy, wide pressure range and the thermal stability of the sensor make it an attractive choice for many of our customers".

"The units are also available on a very competitive lead time of just two weeks standard".

The sensors are compact and lightweight (100g) and so can be integrated easily into customer's existing plant installations.

Various pressure port connection thread options are available.

Output options include millivolts, 0-5V and 0-10V DC, 4-20mA, plus a special ratiometric 0.5-4.5V DC version favoured by automotive and Motorsport sectors.
