The AX480 single-input and AX488 dual-input dissolved oxygen transmitters are the latest additions to ABB's AnalyzeIT AX400 range of online analysers.

The AX480 single-input and AX488 dual-input dissolved oxygen transmitters are the latest additions to ABB's AnalyzeIT AX400 range of online analysers These new transmitters bring a cost effective and versatile means of ensuring optimum dissolved oxygen levels are maintained in aeration ponds in waste water treatment, pulp and paper, food and beverage and fish farming applications

Standard features include a sensor life indicator to provide assurance of reliability and permit just-in-time maintenance; automatic sensor wash control to optimise sensor performance and reduce maintenance; and a salinity and atmospheric pressure correction function to ensure maximum accuracy.

The transmitters also feature integrated three-term PID control, providing more efficient control of blowers in aeration tanks, thereby eliminating the cost of separate controllers.

The AX488 dual-input version also enables users to obtain averaged measurements of dissolved oxygen across aeration ponds and the ability to compare measurement values due to stratification at different depths.

For general water quality monitoring, the AX468 provides simultaneous measurements of pH and dissolved oxygen from a single unit.

Output signal transmission is by traditional current outputs or, alternatively, with Profibus DP digital communication.

For users wishing to upgrade their monitoring capability and achieve greater utility from their available data, AnalyzeIT AX 400 analysers support a comprehensive set of addon options.

An optional plug-in "addon feature board", for example, can be easily added to provide four current outputs and five alarm relays, making the instrument ideal for the majority of water treatment applications.

ABB's AnalyzeIT AX400 analysers are supplied as standard for 85 to 265V AC operation.

To meet the move to safe working practices, which is increasingly becoming a standard across industry, the instrument can also be provided with 24V AC or 12 to 30V DC operation.

If a low voltage option is used, no safety tests or extra personnel are required to meet safety procedures, further adding to the unit's overall cost effectiveness.

All AX400 analysers are available for either wall/pipe or panel mounting and are rated to IP66/NEMA 4X, making them suitable for installation in any location.

ABB also supplies a comprehensive selection of dissolved oxygen sensors that can be used with the AX480 and AX488 analysers.

One such unit, the model 8012 oxygen sensor, delivers high-level performance in even the most demanding applications.

Its unique design of floating ball with jet-wash reduces fouling and greatly reduces maintenance costs.
