Functional safety explained
A new guide explaining all you need to know about functional safety is now available from ABB.
For hazardous areas or control room installations, there are loop powered analogue 4-20mA devices, in either two or four-wire versions.
For more complex installations requiring communication between industrial control systems and field instruments, there are Profibus and Foundation Fieldbus enabled devices.
Both types of equipment are offered in head, field and rail mounted versions, making them suitable for use in virtually any application.
As well as transmitter devices, the brochure covers field indicators in analogue, digital numeric and digital alphanumeric versions.
This range includes ABB's Prometer programmable indicator and Cometer programmable indicator and configurator for communication with Hart devices.
The brochure also features other configuration tools for use with ABB's temperature transmitters.
These include the Smart Vision software package for applications requiring communication with programmable Hart and Fieldbus compatible products and the STT04 handheld configurator for use with Hart and non-Hart devices.
