Acquisition includes water monitor range

ABB has acquired the Azteca analytical instrumentation business of Severn Trent Services, based in Didcot, Oxfordshire.

ABB has strengthened its capabilities in the water utilities sector with the acquisition of the Azteca analytical instrumentation business of Severn Trent Services (STS), based in Didcot, Oxfordshire.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

It is effective from 31st March 2007, and affects 22 STS employees.

The acquisition includes the Azteca range of water monitors, as well as service support and reagent supply activities associated with a large installed base in the UK.

ABB also concluded an agreement to add a residual chlorine monitoring capability to its expanded portfolio.

"ABB is already a major supplier of analytical equipment and instrumentation to the global water industry, and also provides a wide range of electrical and automation products and systems such as drives, motors, switchgear, transformers and control equipment" said Josef Guth, Head of ABB's Global Instrumentation Business.

"These new additions to our product range complement and strengthen our capabilities both locally and globally, especially in the area of analytical instrumentation".
