Standoffs for stainless steel too thin to tap
Arconix/UK has introduced a new range of PEM self-clinching standoffs in thread sizes M3 to M5, specially designed for installation in stainless steel as thin as 1mm.
The new studs feature a larger diameter ribbed head, that has been increased from 9.6mm to 15.3mm.
This specially designed feature allows the head to project above the sheet, which distributes the axial tightening force over a larger area, providing excellent pull-through and torque-out resistance.
The dog point provides an important lead-in that protects the first threads during assembly, as well as ensuring faster installation.
The studs are installed using a punch and anvil to squeeze and imbed the specially designed ribs in the fastener's head into the metal sheet, making it a permanent part of the assembly, avoiding the need for time consuming welding.
The fasteners are available in M5, M6 and M8 thread sizes, in lengths ranging from 20mm to 30mm.
