Arcom announces pervasive eSCADA

Arcom Control Systems and Kansas City, pioneer and world leader of embedded computer solutions and industrial network gateways respectivey, announce their pervasive eSCADA data delivery solution.

Arcom Control Systems and Kansas City, pioneer and world leader of embedded computer solutions and industrial network gateways respectively, announce their pervasive eSCADA data delivery solution based on IBM's MQSeries Integrator Version 2 (MQSI) software The Arcom "Director" product platform will be the industry's first Industrial Communications Gateway to provide connectivity to this major new element in the IBM MQSeries Family of products

MQSI V2 includes support for lightweight pervasive devices, therefore enabling them to become full participants in Publish and Subscribe, Message Brokering and Business Integration solutions.

Combined with the worldwide coverage of data delivery systems from companies such as Globalstar and Nova-Net, the Director will enable remote field equipment data to be seamlessly collected, transmitted, and distributed to company's ERP and back-office systems via current TCP/IP networks.

The latest in a complete line of Industrial Communications Gateway products, the Director hardware platform includes an Intel 386EX processor, 4 serial communication ports, and a 10baseT Ethernet port.

Combining a real time operating system, TCP/IP stack, database manager, extensive library of field equipment protocols, and the lightweight IBM MQSI Publish/Subscribe interface, the Director becomes an essential tool in providing an end to end solution for any enterprise data requirements.

Field data such as tank levels, temperature measurements, flow data and meter reading information is collected by the Director using native serial poll/response protocols.

The acquired data is then published to the MQSI message broker where the use of the LEO and GEO satellite system allows data transmission anywhere in the world, even in remote areas where cellular or landlines are not accessible.

Once it reaches the broker, IBM's industry-leading MQSeries messaging system carries the data directly to your business application.

Existing field information is thus easily and flexibly integrated in to ERP systems from SAP, Oracle, Baan, and others.

Data delivery is completely event driven and based on time or events (or both).

The Director series of products are ideal for applications that require instantaneous or historical data measurements that can easily be integrated in to published reports.

Typical applications include oil and gas pipeline monitoring, utility substation distribution and meter reading, tower monitoring, and transportation information systems.

According to Dr.Andy Stanford-Clark, IBM MQSeries Senior Technical Specialist, the combination of Arcom's Director technology and IBM's new MQSeries Integrator offers, for the first time, a seamless path from the place where the data is generated right through to where it is needed, in the heart of business applications.
