Arcom Control Systems is pleased to announce membership at the Gold level in the Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner (WEP) Program, created to identify best-in-class partners

Arcom Control Systems is pleased to announce membership at the Gold level in the Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner (WEP) Program.

The Gold level of WEP has been created by Microsoft to make it easy for customers of embedded Windows to identify best-in-class Systems Integrator, Independent Software Vendor, Silicon Vendor and Independent Hardware Vendor partners.

Arcom's strategy is to develop, integrate and support the family of embedded Windows operating system solutions onto their range of PC compatible hardware solutions.

This is achieved by offering fully packaged Windows CE and Windows NT Embedded 4.0 Development Kits to allow customers to rapidly develop and demonstrate their application solutions.

Arcom has been pleased to contribute these Development Kits as part of Microsoft's ongoing world wide series of technical seminars and 'hands-on' training classes.

"Arcom's Windows CE Development Kit allows developers to focus their efforts on developing rich applications for their Windows Powered devices and is one of the reasons Arcom met the criteria for WEP Gold-level membership," said Keith White, senior director of marketing for the Embedded and Appliance Platforms Group at Microsoft Corp.

"Now that customers can obtain extensive information about our Gold level members' innovative solutions, they will be able to leverage those members to help bring their Windows Powered devices to market quicker than ever before." Arcom have a dedicated team of embedded Windows engineers located in Cambridge, England and Kansas City, USA focussed on new product development using the latest embedded Microsoft operating systems.

This technical resource is also used as a Design Service to provide detailed advice and support customer specific driver/integration requirements.

As a manufacturer Arcom can support customers in the rapid deployment of embedded Windows systems straight from the production line.

As part of the ongoing support for new hardware platforms, Arcom have recently announced their Windows NT Embedded 4.0 Development Kit for the 300MHz National Semiconductor GeodeTM based single board computer.

The operating system has been pre-built with the drivers to support the on board graphics, Ethernet and compact flash drive to allow engineers to evaluate and demonstrate the use of their Windows NT Embedded 4.0 applications on the Arcom platform.

Microsoft Windows NT Embedded 4.0 is built on the proven Windows NT 4.0 code base and is designed as a modular operating system for systems with and without the use of a display.

It offers the security, manageability and sophisticated networking capabilities for medium and high-end applications.

The ability to deploy fixed implementations with and without display functionality means reduced license cost and reduced field support and maintenance.

The Arcom Development Kit is supplied with a fully licensed Class 2 Windows NT Embedded 4.0 image installed on a 128Mbytes compact Flash card.

The Kit also includes the software drivers, cables and documentation to support the on-board features of Arcom's SBC-GX1.

Arcom also offers the SBC-GX1 with the Windows CE 3.0 operating system pre-loaded on to the 16Mbyte resident flash drive.

This offers secure, reliable operation and the ability to support fully integrated communications and information appliances with no additional disk media.

The Windows CE 3.0 operating system and the application can be debugged and reloaded via the 10/100baseTx network interface.
