Rapiscan's standard systems include a trolley-mounted monitor, keyboard and mouse which are connected to the computer inside the scanning equipment.
The Rapiscan Secure Workstation houses this equipment inside an Armagard PC Enclosure, customised specifically for the task.
The keyboard, trackerball mouse device and additional control switches are built into an angled panel on the front of the enclosure.
The unit is robust, secure, fan-cooled and dust-proof.
Using standard computer equipment protected by an enclosure, rather than an integral control panel, gives Rapiscan several advantages.
Firstly, it can offer the added security feature as an option on new systems and as an upgrade to existing customers.
Secondly, it provides freedom to change the specification, format or brand of computer equipment supplied.
According to Nick Downer of Rapiscan, "We were looking for a high quality solution that was simple and that complemented the use and appearance of our equipment.
Armagard had a proven security product which required very little customisation to suit our specific application.
It is proving very popular with our customers.".
