Society breaks out own publication

Thermal spray society to launch own official newsletter, breaking ties with international association.

The ASM Thermal Spray Society (TSS) is to launch International Thermal Spray and Surface Engineering, the Official Newsletter of the ASM TSS.

This publication will focus on thermal spray and other surface engineering technologies.

The first issue will be included in the May issue of Advanced Materials and Processes, the monthly magazine published by ASM International.

The TSS's ownership in Spraytime, a thermal spray industry newsletter jointly published with the International Thermal Spray Association (ITSA) since the mid-1990s, has been transferred to ITSA upon its request.

This will enable the ITSA to focus the publication on its own identity and objectives.

"After many years of productive and successful cooperation, we have agreed to cease our involvement in Spraytime", said Richard Knight, TSS President and past co-editor of Spraytime.

"We will continue to co-operate closely with the ITSA in areas of mutual interest, but we are also excited to work on our own publication, which will be dedicated to our membership of more than 1500 individuals and corporations around the world".

Knight said that International Thermal Spray and Surface Engineering would provide global technical and commercial information about thermal spray and related surface engineering technologies, primarily for members of the TSS.

"It will also represent a platform for us to broaden the reach of thermal spray technology into new industries and applications", he said.
