Artesyn Technologies, which produces power conversion equipment and real-time subsystems, has announced the appointment of Ewald Braith as President of its Communications Infrastructure Group

Artesyn Technologies has announced the appointment of Ewald Braith as President of its Communications Infrastructure Group.

The appointment follows the planned retirement of the group's previous President, Josef Matz, at the end of last year.

"I want to thank Josef Matz for his many contributions to Artesyn over the past 10 years, and wish him well in retirement," said Joseph O'Donnell, President and CEO of Artesyn Technologies.

"Our Communications Infrastructure Group is a substantial future growth engine for the company and I am pleased to be able to promote Ewald into this important role.

He has an excellent track record of managing our custom engineering operations, and has contributed significantly to our strong market position in the telecom marketplace." Ewald Braith has extensive experience in the power supply industry, having held various design, engineering management and directorial positions over the past 17 years.

He began his career as an electronics design engineer with Schrack Telecom, subsequently becoming Engineering Manager of the company, and then joined Zytec Corporation, where he served as Engineering Manager of the company's facilities in Austria and Managing Director of Zytec in Hungary.

Following the foundation of Artesyn in 1998, Ewald assumed responsibility for the company's custom engineering operations in Europe, spanning six different locations, and was subsequently appointed Vice-President of Artesyn's Global Wireless Division.

A native of Austria, Ewald holds an Executive MBA from the Carlson School of Management (University of Minnesota) and the Vienna University of Economics, and also has an engineering degree in electronics.

He will be based at the European headquarters of Artesyn's Communications Infrastructure Group, in Vienna, Austria.
