Graham Dawson, Sales Manager for Arrowquint, explains: "A good ground path is essential to minimise static buildup and prevent ignition level static discharges".
The basic principle behind the TCO030 sensing and switching units is to look for a specific resistance along the bonding path.
If this resistance is within predetermined limits, the system will switch and indicate a safe condition.
This can be used to operate one or more interlock relays which permit the process or machine to start.
However, if the resistance is incorrect, the system will not switch, an alarm may sound and the process is inhibited.
The resistance circuit can be completed in a variety of ways for both couplings and docking stations, including manual clamps, connector pins and swipe contacts.
The Eltex TCO030 sensor system is intrinsically safe and is certified and approved to EEx and ATEX standards for use in hazardous areas.
