Static generator keeps films under control

An Arrowquint product story

Eurofilms looked to static control solutions from Arrowquint, in order to enhance its film casting process.

As one of the UK's leading independent producers of palletwrap stretch wrap film, Eurofilms Extrusion, based in Telford, has always been at the forefront of development in materials and manufacturing.

Following an investment of over GBP 3 million in state of the art cast and blown stretch film technology, Eurofilms looked to static control solutions from Arrowquint, in order to enhance its film casting process, particularly the control of the film as it is applied to the casting roller.

This is the first stage of the film manufacturing process and the need to control the film is of the utmost importance.

By inducing a static charge on the two edges of the film, ie edge pinning, the stability of the film is enhanced, which in turn, offers greater product consistency and a reduction in film shrinkage, known as film "necking".

Arrowquint used the Eltex KNH18 static inducement generator and R23ATR pinpoint charging electrodes, to provide Eurofilms Extrusion product consistency on a 24/7 basis.

David Thomas, Production Director, for Eurofilms Extrusion says: "The Eltex static inducement system is widely used throughout the UK and Europe and was recommended to us by our sister company".

"We installed the system in December 2003 and are very pleased with its performance and results".

Arrowquint is the exclusive UK/Ireland agent for Eltex Elektrostatik, and has been offering static control solutions to film manufacturers and convertors since 1985.
